Today’s topic can resonate with so many of us in the digital marketing space, small and large business, client and agency side, and pretty much your 2 and 9-year old kids at home. Ok, it resonates with everyone, but gets the wheels spinning. SO-LO-MO, or ‘Social-Local-Mobile’ really is sweeping the world over by changing the way we communicate in general with each other as a ‘species’!

Panelists (l to r) Ian Mackie and Bryan Zug sharing their opinions on today's So-Lo-Mo topic

From talking about how the world is going mobile (like going postal) and changing everyday with more and more mobile devices being sold and relied more heavily upon compared to laptops, desktops, etc, to sharing how ‘local’ is super important to businesses in today’s marketing mix.

“Every small business is like a big experiment,” said Bryan Zug, in reference to how small business approaches their social communications strategy.

There are so many options for companies to take as a marketer to reach their target demographic that they must look at which elements of the ‘social’, ‘local’ and ‘mobile’ mindsets most suits their buyers. Socially they might be of a certain demographic that is on Twitter most of the day, for example, uses Google heavily for anything local, and is on their mobile device 4-5hrs per day! Another demographic may be completely the opposite. But it’s deciphering which demographic to target, where they are, what their behaviors are like, and how to reach them that continues to mold and shift with the So-Lo-Mo mentality in the marketing mix.
